Curtis Hill

Curtis was born in Oklahoma (and still is a diehard Sooners fan), and grew up in Augusta, Georgia (and absolutely loves The Masters).

He received his masters degree at Temple Baptist Seminary (Chattanooga, TN) and completed his doctorate in Expositional Preaching at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY).

His formative ministry experience out of seminary was at Brainerd Baptist Church where he served several years in various staff roles. Taking the role of Senior Pastor, he served Ogletown Baptist Church in Newark, Delaware for 15 years. In early 2023, God led him back to Brainerd to serve as Lead Pastor.

He and his wife Shawna have been married nearly 25 years, have three children, and live in Chattanooga. Shawna has a heart especially for preschoolers (and has been a teacher at several schools), and knows her way around a good house project involving power tools (unlike Curtis).

Curtis enjoys family-time, friend-time, running (especially trail running), and podcasts. He has met very few spreadsheets or Venn diagrams he didn’t like. He enjoys documentaries, and will never miss an opportunity to eat a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup or two or three (if you don’t believe it, he would welcome you to test him on that).

He loves music of (almost) any genre, is usually thrilled if he can play bogey golf, has 4-5 books on the shelf an any given time, enjoys travel, finds watching most every sport enjoyable and overall seems to be in a better mood during the winter months.
